WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- Washington Township's Imaculate Heart Academy softball team participated in a softball tournament on Sunday, April 10 that now bears the name of their late coach, who was struck down with cancer in February, according to NorthJersey.com.
The Blue Eagles won their first game of the Anthony LaRezza Invitational 11-1 over Immaculata. The school displayed banners with his picture and players wore shirts with his LaRezza's name on the back, NorthJersey.com reported.
The team is now coached by Diana Fasano, who served as LaRezza's assistant for the previous seven years, NorthJersey.com said.
