Friends, family and strangers have rallied to help Rooney, 22, a Westwood High School graduate who studied criminal justice at Bergen Community College.

Proceeds from this year’s annual pig roast at Lou’s Tavern, on Sunday, Sept. 7, will go to him (SEE FLIER BELOW).

It was a year ago this month when Rooney was first diagnosed. Friends and relatives praised his strength, immense character and good humor through the months that followed.

Now, he says, he’s ready to fight again.

But he needs our help.

“It means so much to have so many people behind me,” he told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “The guys in the department, friends, family. I cannot thank everyone enough.”
