“It is with a heavy heart and head held high that I will be leaving the Sheriff’s Office after 6 years of dedicated service,” McGuire wrote on both his personal and county Facebook pages Wednesday afternoon.
“I am proud to have served my county but prouder still to have a wife who loves me and the love of Erin and Aileen [his daughters] as well as so many of my dear friends. You all have allowed me to do amazing things on behalf of the people and I thank you from the core of my being!”
No mention was made of Emerson Police Chief Michael Saudino, a 38-year law enforcement who began as the underdog in the race and rode a swelling tide of support from police unions amid dissatisfaction with McGuire’s style and spending practices to win election as the new sheriff.
Asked to expound or have his posted remarks stand on their own, McGuire chose the latter. “That’s fine,” he told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
