WESTWOOD N.J. -- They’re messy, they’re spicy and they’re addictive. It’s no wonder they’re often served by the dozen.

We asked Daily Voice readers for their favorite Bergen County chicken wing spots and now have five finalists in the running.

Cast your ballot for the one you like best – then tell your friends. You can only vote once

In the spirit of "winging it" (sorry, we couldn't resist the pun), each finalist is being profiled this week, with the contest ending 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23.

The Iron Horse, 20 Washington Ave, Westwood, (201) 666-9682

Wing Choices: Seven options: Buffalo, mild, garlic parmesan, barbecue, teriyaki, sweet chili, and habanero mango.

Most popular heat level: Just one variety on Buffalo version as these are the ones used in the original recipe created by Anchor Bar in Buffalo, N.Y.

Good to Know: The Buffalo wings have their own backstory. The owner's brother-in-law was getting married in 1978 in Buffalo in the middle of the Dodgers/Yankees World Series. With no TV in sight, Lee Tremble wandered into the now famous Anchor Bar where the woman behind the bar had just come up with her own wing creation. She wrote the recipe on an index card and Tremble starting making them at his restaurant. "We use her same Old School, classic sauce," said Tremble's son Sean, who now runs the restaurant.

Also good to know: Every Wednesday, from ll:30 a.m. to l0 p.m. you can get seven wings for $5 throughout the dining room. During football games on weekends this offer extends at the bar only.
