River Vale's Doggy Deuce Scoops Poop Professionally

RIVER VALE, N.J. — Aside from her family members, the only people to know that Amy Dahl of River Vale was going into labor were here dog-walkers.

Chris Rago and Jen Carbone, owners of Doggy Deuce in River Vale, dropped everything to care for the Ridgefield Park mom's two dogs so she could deliver a healthy baby.

Three years later, the pet-sitting, dog-walking and poop-scooping company is still by her side.

“They really care about the animals and it’s so hard to find that nowadays,” Dahl said.

“My puggle was just diagnosed with cancer and I was really upset about it, but they were on the phone crying with me, too.”

Rago of Emerson launched his canine pet-sitting business — perhaps most well known for it’s poop-scooping services — in 2007.

Bergenfield native Jen Carbone soon came on board.

“I’d rather be doing this than anything,” said Rago said, whose Westwood Avenue facility in River Vale is located on the same block as a vet, pet store and groomer.

Rago was highly allergic to dogs before launching Doggy Deuce. He always thought dogs were beautiful and wanted to be near them, but being in the same room often gave him hives and petting some breeds landed him in the hospital.

Overexposure has allowed Rago to pet them and even sleep with them without any reaction.

“It’s given me an opportunity to get over something really debilitating,” Rago said.

“It’s changed my life for the better.”

Doggy Deuce is currently taking new-hire applications, and is located at 676 Westwood Avenue in River Vale.
