WESTWOOD, N.J. -- Westwood Regional Jr./Sr. High School will host the third annual One More Once Jazz Festival in its Hurley Theater, on Saturday, April 23.
High school bands from Westwood, Saddle Brook, Midland Park, Passaic County Technical Institute, Bernards and West Milford will each have the opportunity to perform for 25 minutes, alongside a Rutgers University Jazz faculty member. Each band's performance will be followed by an educational clinic with another member of the RU Faculty.
A performance by One More Once Big Band in the early afternoon will feature the 18-piece professional band, as well as each of the guest artists from Rutgers. One student from each school band will also have an opportunity to perform a song with One More Once.
One More Once, co-directed by Timothy Hayward and Joe Verderese, consists of a collection of local professional jazz musicians from the New Jersey and New York area. They perform monthly at Trumpets Jazz Club, as well as at private venues, various school functions and community events.
Admission to the festival, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is $10. You can purchase tickets at the door.
