Washington Township's IHA Engineering Club Places In Competition

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- The Applied Engineering Club from Immaculate Heart Academy competed in the Destination Imagination Competition on Saturday, March 12.

Musical Mash Up Team members Rebecca Coronel, Elizabeth Becz, Kaitlyn Bertolino, Kaitlyn Brown, Olivia Najjar and Alexa Trubiano took home second place by constructing a combination flute and harp. 

The team was required to incorporate the instrument into a skit and then test the instrument's construction by placing weights on a testing structure.

Their second place finish earned them an invitation to the Global Destination Imagination competition in Knoxville, Tenn. in May.

The Meme Event Team also took third place by designing a rock wall with 3D printed hand holds. Their "meme" was women helping women achieve success in STEM careers. 

The Meme Event team consisted of Marissa Amen, Riley DeRosa, Hannah Gunning, Kristen Kjetsaa, Emily Koehne and Eilis MacLaughlin.
