Sheriff's Officers Aime Mehnert and Sonya Bekier of Saudino's Community Outreach Unit collected the birds from the Washington and George school youngters to be given to the Center for Food Action in Saddle Brook on Friday.

The sheriff's crew, including members of PBA Local 134, gathered 600 turkeys overall, smashing last year's collection of 380.

In doing so, the team produced nearly a quarter of the turkeys that the CFA said it needs to feed 2,500 families this Thanksgiving.
