EMERSON, N.J. — The Emerson Marching Band is marching in Monday's Memorial Day Parade in Washington D.C.

The 2:15 p.m. parade will take off at Constitution Avenue and march from 7th through 17th streets. It will pass by the National Archives and the new National African American History and Cultural Museum, which has yet to open.

The band was nominated by Congressman Scott Garrett (R) to participate for the first time since 1998.

Emerson graduate Michael Lione, class of 1999, has been the director of the marching band for 8 years. He said the musicians will play a mixture of patriotic and contemporary music, he said.
