Republican Challengers Unseat Hillsdale Incumbents

HILLSDALE, N.J. — Republican Doug Frank became Hillsdale's new mayor, leading a full-slate GOP sweep, with a convincing victory over Democratic challenger Chrisoula Looes on Tuesday, according to unofficial results from the Bergen County Board of Elections.

Frank received 1,544 votes and Looes 853.

Mayor Max Arnowitz, a Republican, wasn't nominated by his municipal committee this year after serving as mayor for five years and on the council for more than 20 years before that.

Republican challengers Scott Karcich (1,472 votes) Abby Lundy (1,439 votes) topped Democrats Lawrence Meyerson, an incumbent who got 858 votes, and Peter Hard, who received 932.

Meanwhile, immigration lawyer Carlos Rendo became the first Latino mayor in Woodcliff Lake history ( SEE: Rendo Becomes First Latino Mayor Of Woodcliff Lake ).In other towns:
