Rendo initially got 805 votes while former councilman Jeff Bader got 795 for the seat being vacated by sitting mayor Democrat Jeffrey Goldsmith will vacate at the end of the year. But there were the mail-ins and no fewer than 15 more provisional votes to count -- which, even if they all went in Bader's favor would make Rendo the winner by two.

Rendo, 51, and Bader, 60, originally vied for the GOP nomination. After Bader lost the endorsement to Rendo, he switched parties and ran as a Democrat.Rendo said it was too premature to comment until the process is completed.
