WESTWOOD, N.J. -- Westwood and Emerson have, as neighbors, experienced issues with flooding, and they are trying to work on the issues cooperatively, The Record reported.

Westwood Mayor John Birkner Jr. is working with his borough, and with Emerson, to secure funding to address flooding.

Emerson has already applied for a grant from the state Department of Transportation's Local Aid Infrastructure Fund, and the Westwood Council voted Tuesday to apply for a grant from that fund as well, according to The Record.

"Hopefully we are able to come up with a solution," said Westwood Mayor John Birkner Jr., as reported by The Record. "It's traumatic over there; water has wiped out yards and pools. I've seen it, it's devastating. We stand with Emerson in trying to find a fix."
