To put it simply, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie doesn't care what you think about him being on the beach during the 3-day government shutdown over the holiday weekend, according to a recent statement he made.
"That's our residence and we have a right to be there whenever we want to be there," he said.
"I don't apologize for it, I don't back away from it and I think my poll numbers show I don't care about political optics.
"What I care about is doing what's right and wrong and what was right for my family was for my family to be together and for me to be with them and to do what we were doing."
The shutdown ended Monday evening when Christie and top legislators reached an agreement on a $34.7 billion budget.
