The girl was headed to the bus stop on Werimus Road near Pinecrest Drive just before 7 a.m. when a Ford F-150 driven by a Garfield man grazed her arm, Police Chief Anthony Jannicelli said.

The area doesn't have sidewalks, the chief noted.

The driver stopped and immediately called police, while the girl contacted her father, Jannicelli said.

"She might have a black and blue, but there was need for immediate treatment and no summonses," he said.
