Investigators secretly watched as Thomas William, 22, walked in and out of his home at 11th Avenue and East 42nd Street -- twice counting money and once holding several bags of the drug -- around 3 p.m. Thursday, Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said.

They seized William and found him with 80 glassine envelopes of heroin and $816 in suspected drug proceeds, the sheriff said.

They recovered an additional 1,850 envelopes of the drug in his bedroom, Berdnik said.

Williams was charged with various drug possession counts and taken to headquarters to await bail.
