River Vale Couple's Car Struck By Freight Train In Norwood

NORWOOD, N.J. -- A River Vale couple whose car got struck on the tracks in Norwood got out before it was struck by a freight train Sunday night, authorities said.

The car was on Broadway when the driver made a left onto the tracks, thinking it was a road, just before 5:45 p.m., Police Chief Jeffrey Krapels said.

The car got stuck, then was pushed down to the Blanche Crossing by the CSX train, he said.
