Witnesses weren't sure whether the victim had laid down or fallen in front of the truck's front wheel before he his torso was run over in the Chestnut Ridge Road parking lot around 7:40 a.m., Police Chief Jeremy Abrams said.
The driver had returned to the vehicle and couldn't see the victim when he tried to make a delivery at the Dunkin Donuts in the small shopping center.
Atlantic AirOne flew him to Hackensack University Medical Center in what Abrams said was grave condition. He immediately went into surgery, the chief said.
Next-of-kin notification was pending and investigation was continuing, he said.
