Officer Eric Robalino stopped their black Audi on westbound Grand Avenue Wednesday night for having an obstructed rear license plate, Capt. Joseph Sanfilippo said.
Robalino detected "a strong odor of raw marijuana" as he approached the driver, Victor Mui, 21, of Vernon Hills, Illinois, Sanfilippo said.
He then had Mui and his passenger, 19-year-old Eris Gines of Maspeth, NY, get out.
Gines had most of the durgs, along with $1,340 in cash, Sanfilippo said. Mui had a small amount of marijuana, he said.
A search of the vehicle gurned up two large bags of marijuana, a bag of psilocybin mushrooms, a digital scale and drug packaging material.
Both were processed and released -- Gines on $2,500 bail, Mui with no bail, the captain said.
