Officer Alex Kaplan took 21-year-old Patrick McLoughlin into custody after spotting him on Clinton Avenue, a short distance from Wilkes Delicatessen, after the 10:30 a.m. holdup, Detective Bill Dietrich said.

The clerk was unharmed after handing over the cash from the register of the Hillsdale Avenue store, he said.

McLoughlin pointed police toward the gun and mask, which he'd tossed while fleeing, a law enforcement source told Daily Voice. They also recovered the cash, the source said.

McLoughlin was being held on $25,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.
