Hero officer Marc DiNardo is in the running to have the Jersey City public school he attended named after him.
DiNardo, so highly regarded that he was part of the city’s Special Response Unit, was shot and killed just days short of his 38th birthday last August, as a group of officers stormed an apartment where a gunman was holed up.
The Police Officers Benevolent Association got way more than the 1,000 required signatures to propose the renaming of School 23 Annex on Duncan Avenue after DiNardo, who later graduated from Hudson Catholic and St. Peter‘s College..
It’s now up to the city Board of Education to decide.
