Hackensack Family Displaced In Evening Fire

HACKENSACK, N.J. — One family was displaced in a fire that burned in a Hackensack apartment complex on Thursday, authorities said. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters responded to a report of smoke coming from a third-floor apartment on Tracy Place around 5:30 p.m. 

Deputy 4 was the first to arrive, which confirmed smoke, and then Engine 2 showed up a stretched a tenement load to the rear for attack, according to a press release.

Ladder 1 forced entry whiled rescue 1 conducted searches and ventilated the apartment, authorities said. Additional companies arrive and assisted with additional hose lines and overhaul.

The fire was under control within 20 minutes, thanks to the Hackensack Fire Department and Teaneck FAST team. 

Companies remained on scene while the fire was investigated, with EMS on standby.
