No injuries and minor damage were reported in the 8:25 p.m. blaze, which ignited in the oven hood, emergency workers told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The restaurant was closed for the evening until health inspectors could determine when it was safe to re-open, they said.
The Hillsdale Fire Department FAST team and Hillsdale firefighters joined their Westwood colleagues. Westwood Ambulance also remained on standby.
The street was closed from the Kinderkamack Road to Broadway.
