Driver Who Stopped On RR Tracks Under Influence, Westwood Police Say

WESTWOOD, N.J. -- A driver who witnesses initially thought was dead was under the influence of something when he stopped his car on the railroad tracks in Westwood this morning, police told Daily Voice.

"We don't know if it's drunk or drugs," Police Chief Frank Regino said. "He's alert and conscious, for the most part."

The Honda was stopped on the Pascack Valley Line tracks between Broadway and the K-Mart shopping complex just before 9 a.m.

"We contacted NJ Transit and asked them to slow things down a bit, then got the car off the tracks," Regino said minutes later. "No one is in any danger."
