MONTVALE, N.J. -- Former Montvale resident Peter A. Lockatell died on Thursday, Dec. 3. He was 92.Lockatell was born on July 8, 1923 in Fairview, NJ to Josephine (Eberhart) and Peter Lockatell Sr. He was the second of three children. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1941.
Lockatell enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1942, serving his country during World War II until 1946 after which he re-enlisted in 1948 for four more years. After the war Pete owned and worked at Custom Auto Parts in Palisades Park, until 1980, when he sold the business. Lockatell retired in 1990 after working at Pascack Valley High School in Hillsdale.
Lockatell was predeceased by his wifeTeresa Joyce Lockatell, his sister Rita Keahon, and his son, Steven Lockatell.
Lockatell is survived by five of his six children; Michael Lockatell of Richmond, Va., Barbara Robinson (John) of Gainesville, Va., Thomas Lockatell (Ginny) of New Windsor, Md., James Lockatell (Sherry) of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and Aimee Ouellette (Ron) of St. Cloud, Fla. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren and great-grandson.
A Mass of Christian burial is at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church in Park Ridge, on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Airmont, N.Y.
Visitation hours are Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert Spearing Funeral Home in Park Ridge.
