Josephine V. Lawida, 92, Washington Township Resident

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- Josephine V. Lawida, of Washington Township, died on Friday, Feb. 3.  She was 92.

Lawida began her career as an assistant microscopist, working with electron microscopes. "She spent most of her life teaching science, which was her passion, at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Washington Township," information from the funeral home noted. 

Later, she working part-time at CellularOne. 

"She was extremely devoted to her family, creating many traditions and memories for her grandchildren to continue and pass on," the funeral home continued. She was one of the first members of the Catholic Daughters Court 1712 of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, in Ridgewood.  

Lawida is survived by her children, Monica Eanelli of Park Ridge and Arthur Lawida of Durham, North Carolina; grandchildren BethAnn, Tommy and Kate Eanelli, and Nathan, Luke and Lance Lawida; nephew Edgar Overstreet of Howell; and great-nephews Eddie and Travis Overstreet.

She was preceded by her husband, Arthur Lawida; niece Stephany Stefani; and sisters May Clare Overstreet and Eleanor Stefani.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, at the Feeney Funeral Home, 232 Franklin Ave., in Ridgewood. The family requests no flowers. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1 Passaic St., in Ridgewood.
