Jane Wertheim, 92, Of River Vale

RIVER VALE, N.J. -- Jane Wertheim, of River Vale, died Wednesday, Nov. 30. She was 92.

She was born Dec. 25, 1923, in Binghamton, N.Y. After graduating Binghamton Central High School and secretarial school, she relocated to Washington, D.C. and worked for the Department of Defense during World War II. 

After the war, she returned to Binghamton and on Aug. 16, 1947, she married Larry Wertheim of the Bronx. He predeceased her in 2005. She also was predeceased by her brother, Seymour. 

She worked many years at Arwood in Rockleigh. Upon retiring, she served as a volunteer for Pascack Valley Meals on Wheels. She loved bowling, bridge, golf, knitting and traveling.

She is survived by her, children, Joe (Nancy), Matt (Barbara), Amy (David), and David (Barbara); eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Robert Schoem’s Menorah Chapel, 150 W. State Route 4, Paramus, followed by burial service at Cedar Park Cemetery.

In lieu of gifts or flowers, memorial contributions in her memory should be made to Pascack Valley Meal on Wheels, 100 Madison Ave., Suite #3, Westwood, NJ 07675.
