Ellen R. Cameron, 67, Hillsdale Resident

HILLSDALE, N.J. -- Ellen R. Cameron, of Hillsdale, died on Monday, Feb. 27. She was 67.

Born in Manhattan, Cameron was the second of eight children. She was an active member of Church of the Presentation, in Upper Saddle River. She earned a third-degree black belt -- the title rank of sandan -- in the martial arts style of Heiho Shin Do at Faustini's Institute of Martial Arts and Fitness, in Oradell. 

"Ellen loved to bake and was known to all of her friends, near and far, for her incredible cheesecake," her family noted. 

"Ellen will be remembered for her incredible wit, her caring soul and most importantly for the way she lived by the golden rule. Ellen's life fulfillment came from raising her beloved daughter and best friend, AnnMarie."

Cameron is survived by her daughters, AnnMarie and Meagan; brothers J. Stuart of Huntington, West Virginia, Gregory of Poughkeepsie, and Brian of Suffern; sister Ursula Scott of Alpharetta, Georgia; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents, Joseph and Ellen Cameron; brothers Kevin and Brendan Cameron; and sister Belinda Stern. 

Visitation will be from at 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave., in Ramsey. An 11 a.m. funeral mass will be held on Friday at the Church of the Presentation, in Upper Saddle River.
