PASCACK VALLEY, N.J.– The boys lacrosse teams from Pascack's two regional high schools will compete in the first Charity Classic on Tuesday to benefit the Zack Latteri Scholarship Fund.
The event will become an annual tradition and funds will be raised for a charity of choice, organizers said.
Pascack Valley Head Coach Craig Buckley and Pascack Hills Head Coach Mike Holl both agreed that there couldn't be a more worthy cause to support in the inaugural classic.
Latteri, of River Vale, died last summer after a five-year battle with leukemia.
The Scholarship Fund was created in Zack's name to benefit a student from the Pascack Regional School District, the coaches said.
The JV squads will get things started with a 5 p.m. game. The varsity will follow at 7.
There is a suggested donation of $5 for adults and $2 for students upon entrance.
Blue Moon Cafe, Big Daddy's and Rita's Ices are providing food and beverages. A percentage of the sales will go towards the scholarship fund.
River Vale's Mindy's Munchies donated goods, ad Metro Printing created "Lax 4 Zack" sunglasses, which will be for sale.
