“The Emerson Police Department is so proud to have these two candidates,” Chief Michael Mazzeo told those assembled at the Borough Council meeting.

They were chosen among 83 candidates, he explained.

“They’re honest. They’re respectful,” Mazzeo said of Murphy and McDermott.

“They have great manners and you could tell the families that they come from did the right thing.”

A third candidate is in the police academy now, he added.
