Steve Ruderman, also known as “Rudy,” was transferred to a hospice care facility the day after he turned 51, according to a GoFundMe campaign created to raise funds for him and his family.

“Anyone who knows Steve well, knows that Rudy is a reserved and gentle man with a big heart, a true affection for his family, and a never-ending dedication to sport and coffee,” the page states.

Ruderman has been married to his wife for more than 20 years, and they have an 8-year-old girl and a 2-year-old son, according to the page.

Ruderman has “regularly helped others, raising money for a variety of charitable causes through his dedication to running,” the page states. “He would never ask for your help, but as good friends of his, we are asking you to help Steve and his family.”
