New Jersey Rescue Finds Happy Homes For Just Pups Dogs

EMERSON, N.J. — Melissa Crisostomo wasn't seriously looking for another dog, but she fell in love with a picture on Facebook of one of the surrendered puppies coming out of an Emerson shop owner's closing store.

The NJSCPA had just surrendered close to 70 East Hanover Just Pups dogs to local rescues, including Husky House, and among them was a black Morkie who Crisostomo had her eye on.

The family now affectionately calls him Baymax, after 3-year-old Damien's favorite movie.

"It's not often you come across an opportunity for a dog like that through a shelter," said Crisostomo, a mother of two. "It was a better choice than a breeder."

Crisostomo submitted an application for the puppy early last month and brought him home last Saturday.

Baymax has become a great companion to the Crisostomo's 5-year-old Havanese.

"My kids love him," she said, "and he seems to be getting along well with Dexter."
