The Westwood Regional High School freshman is suffering with osteosarcoma, a cancer that starts in the bones, according to her mother.
It has metastasized to her lungs.
Doors for the basketball fundraiser open at noon Saturday for a 1 p.m. game start at Immaculate Heart Academy in Washington Township.
“All the boys from the Westwood high school basketball teams who are home from college play this alumni game every year,” said Lynne Green, one of the alumni moms who organized the event.
“This is the fourth year in a row they’ve played.”
Coach John Santulli got the ball rolling on Cardinals vs. Cancer, according to Green.
This year focuses on Lopack who, Green said, has been battling cancer since she was 5 years old.
The event also features a tricky tray raffle with 60 prizes, organizers said. They include signed NBA memorabilia, Yankees tickets, Devils tickets, and Rangers tickets.
Lopack was in the hospital Friday and hoping to regain enough strength to attend the game.
