The "Help Bag Hunger" event, held every September as part of National Hunger Awareness Month, included community leaders committed to highlighting the need for food security in the neighborhood.

ShopRite associates and community volunteers partnered to collect nonperishable items and donations for local food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, child care centers, women's shelters, senior citizens programs, drug rehabilitation centers, programs for the mentally and physically disabled, after-school programs and other organizations that aid those in need.

Help Bag Hunger is part of the ShopRite Partners in Caring program. Since the program's inception in 1999, more than $37 million has been donated to 1,700 hunger relief agencies in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland.
