Free 'Be Well' Lectures In Westwood Cover Stroke Recovery, Diabetes

WESTWOOD, N.J. -- HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley is continuing its free "Be Well Community Lecture Series" this summer, with sessions on stroke recovery and "Diabetes and Your Feet."

On Wednesday, June 15, clinical neurologist Dr. Georges Ghacibeh will lead a lecture about stroke recovery and how to improve over time. The process requires making changes in physical, social and emotional aspects life. Spouses and other support people are encouraged to attend.

Dr. Vincent Giacalone, a podiatrist specializing in preventing and treating diabetic foot complications, will present "Diabetes and Your Feet" on Thursday, June 16. Diabetes can cause a number of problems with your feet, including pain, ulcers, infections that can even make it difficult to walk. Giacalone will discuss ways to prevent and manage diabetic problems and pain.

All classes in the series are located in onsite in HackensackUMC's community classroom, 250 Old Hook Rd., in Westwood. Both of these classes begin at 5:30 p.m. To register, call 877-848-WELL (9355).
