The 17-year-old won the opportunity last spring when he was chosen among high school juniors and seniors who applied for the company’s Business Scholar Early Immersion Externship.
Sumereau rotated among the specialists in Modera’s financial planning, investments, human resources, operations, corporate philanthropy, marketing, and business development departments.
The goal was to give him a closer look at the career paths of individuals working at Modera.
“Everyone at Modera was so welcoming and friendly, and no one was without a smile,” Sumereau said. “I looked forward to going back each day, as each day was a new experience and a new opportunity to see a world I had never even known about before starting with Modera.
“The experience will certainly be a defining factor in helping me choose a career path in the near future,” he added.
Sumereau’s academic achievements, involvement in the River Vale community, leadership, intellectual curiosity, and humility are what earned him the opportunity, according to Modera.
“We hope the insights Brian gained here help him as he finishes high school and explores his career options,” said Tom Orecchio, Modera principal and wealth manager.
Modera employs 47 staff members and has office locations in New Jersey, Massachusetts, Florida, and Georgia. It serves clients nationwide.
